Myrick pitches Trojans past Raleigh Private Schools

Philip Myrick pitches a complete game and the Trojans provide plenty of run support to take the CCSL win over previously unbeaten Raleigh Private Schools 10-4. Ricky Martin collects two hits and a RBI for the Trojans (5-2). The Trojans strike for 3 each in the first three frames. Dillon Creech walks to lead off the Trojans first, steals second and moves to third on a balk. Jeremy Conyers drives him in. Martin singles, sending a hustling Conyers to third and he scores on Matt Powell's sacrifice fly. Myrick drives in Martin for 3-0 Garner lead. Jackson Pleasant ends an RPS threat in the 2nd, nailing a would-be base theft for the 3rd out, leaving a runner at third. Paco Martin slams a double off the centerfield wall to start the second. Pleasant reaches on an RPS error and Creech singles to load the bases. Conyers draws a walk to score Martin and Pleasant dashes home on a wild pitch. Ricky Martin reaches on a RPS miscue, a throw home with no force and the bases are stacked again. Myrick draws a walk to force in a run and its 6-0 Trojans. Raleigh gets 3 hits and two walks in the top of the third to make it 6-2 before the Trojans answer with three in the bottom of the inning, all with two out. In the inning, Creech is hit-by-pitch and gets his 2nd steal and heads home of a Gabe Chrismon RBI single. Chrismon scores, after a wild pitch to second, on an RPS error on Conyers smash to short. Conyers theft of second and scores on Ricky Martin RBI single to push the lead back to 9-2. Myrick disposes of RPS in order in the 4th and the Trojans plate their final run off the RPS reliever on Paco Martin's sacrifice fly as Myrick dashes home on a fly to very short right field and beats the throw home. RPS rallies for two in the seventh on 4 hits but a liner to Paco Martin at second ends the game, 10-2. The Trojans travel to Clayton Tuesday night:

Junior team gets back in the win column
The Junior team wins 11-5 over Broughton, collecting 11 hits and Cyle Nicely picks up the win in relief. CJ Schmitt, Brett Bailey and Colin Perry get two hits a piece as the Trojans go to 7-1 on the season. The Trojans play "small ball" early and often, starting with Matt Hawley scampers to first on a missed third strike and takes second on an errant pick off attempt. Colin Perry perfect sacrifice moves him to third and Hawley scores on Alec Hulmes RBI double. Bailey follows with a single. Bailey and Hulmes execute a perfect delayed double steal, scoring Alec from third. Schmitt drives in Bailey for a 3-0 Trojan lead. The Caps get a run in the 2nd packaging a walk, an error and one hit to make it 3-1. Andy Beck, Hawley and Perry lead off the Trojan second with consecutive singles and Beck scores on a Cap miscue. Hawley follows him to the plate, scoring on a wild pitch and its 5-1 Garner. Broughton plates a run in the 3rd and plates three in the fifth to knot the game at 5-5. The Trojans more than answer with 5 in their half, lead by Bailey's perfect bunt single and keeps running, catching the Caps not covering 2nd base. A Cap boot of a Wil Norris smash to short puts runners at the corners and Schmitt doubles to drive in Bailey. Connor Torruella single re-loads the bases and Norris scores on Acquil Sanders ground out. The fourth Cap error on Beck's rip to short makes it 8-5. Perry plates two with his RBI single for a 10-5 Trojan lead. Norris completes the scoring when he walks and is given second when the fourth ball ends up in the Trojan dugout. Schmitt moves him to third and he scores on a Cap balk. The Caps leave the bases loaded in the 7th, with Hawley, in relief of Nicely, striking out two. Starter Colin Perry pitched 4 innings but was not involved in the decision

Trojan rally falls short against the Bengals

The Trojans rally for two in the seventh but needed three in the 4-3 loss to Fuquay. Hunter Brown takes the loss despite 5 innings of 4-hit ball as the Trojans can only muster a run on Matt Powell's RBI double. A genuine pitchers duel that turned on errors by both teams, 3 by the Trojans and 4 by Fuquay, including three in the 7th. Fuquay (5-0-1) strikes first, taking advantage of a Trojan error for a 1-0 lead in the first. In the second, Paco Martin nails the Fuquay runner at home to keep the score close. Garner (4-2) knots the game in the fourth when Jeremy Conyers is hit by a pitch and scores on Powell's RBI. The Bengals answer in the fifth on two Trojan errors to plate two for a 3-1 lead. Kevin Baker pitches an inning of scoreless relief and gives way to Philip Myrick who is touched for solo homer by Aaron Olive for 4-1 Fuquay lead. The Trojans go down fighting in the last inning. Paco Martin, Jackson Pleasant reach on consecutive Bengal errors and Martin scores on a wild pitch to make it 4-2. Another Bengal boot on Dillon Creech's hot shot scores Clint Clay, courtesy running for Pleasant to narrow the gap to 4-3 but the Trojans are unable to plate the tying run. Dillon Creech goes 2-4, Matt Powell 1-4 and Patrick Monahan 1-4:

Fuquay scores six in the 7th to blow open a close ballgame and send the Trojans to their first defeat of the CCSL season 8-1. Wil Norris holds the Bengals close for 4 innings, leaving trailing 1-0 and assisted by fine Trojan defense. Colin Perry makes two terrific outfield assists and Brett Bailey guns down two base stealers. Josh Randle first inning single and Seth Council's hit in the 3rd and a CJ Schmitt double are the only hits for the Trojans (6-1) get through Norris' day. Kevin McCreery pitches two innings of scoreless relief, aided by a terrific pick off of a Bengal at second and Bailey nailing a would be base theft in the sixth. Connor Torruella takes over in the seventh. The Bengals get two doubles and a single and two Trojan errors helps Fuquay bat around and plate six. In the seventh, Schmitt crushes his second double, a ground rule call as the drive to left bounces over the fence and scores on Perry's RBI single for the 8-1 final.

A 45-minute lightening delay stops the Trojan momentum as Lee County scores 5 after the break and a seventh inning rally falls short in the 7-4 loss to very tough Lee County. The Trojans answer in the 2nd when Jeremy Conyers reaches on a Jacket error and reaches third on Ricky Martin's single. Conyers tags and scores on Matt Powell's sacrifice fly followed by a Pleasant RBI single to knot the game at 2-2. After the lenghty delay, Lee County packages three singles for a 3-2 lead.
