Hawley shuts out Cougars

The Junior team ends their three game winless streak behind Matt Hawley's complete game shutout as the Trojans win 11-0 at Apex. The Trojans (9-4-1) return to Trojan Park Friday night for a 5PM game vs Clayton.

Senior team nipped at RPS
Chris Edwards reporting: The Trojans hit the road for one of their final three games in the CCSL this summer as they traveled to Wake Christian Academy to take on Raleigh Private Schools. Garner came into the game needing to win two of their final three games to make the playoffs. Garner found themselves down early as Drew Gay gave up a home run to Forest Brandt which gave RPS a 1-0 lead.

The Trojans rally to tie the game in their half of the second when Jonathan Sherron RBI double to left plating Ricky Martin, but the tie would be short lived as RPS scored again in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead. In the fourth inning, Garner knotted the game again as Clint Clay singled to right and later scored on a Phillip Myrick single to center.

A defensive miscue cost the Trojans in the fifth as Michael Ehilejbu singled to center, but the ball got past Phillip Myrick allowing Ehilejbu to make it to third he would score when the next hitter, William Brewer singled past the outstretched arm of Jackson Pleasant at third. With the RPS leading by one, they looked for more but the Trojan defense came through in the fifth inning as relief pitcher Bryan Woodard came in to strike out two batters with the bases loaded and keep it at a one run game.

Down a run in their final at bat, Myrick led off the seventh reaching on an error and moving to second with no one out. But, on a ball that got past the catcher, Myrick digged for third but was thrown out. After a ground out, Matt Powell singled and Jackson Pleasant reached on an error to put some pressure on RPS, but it was not to be as a ground out to ended the game.
Drew Gay became the tough luck loser for the Trojans despite scattering just six hits in 5 1/3 innings

Trojan football scrimmages at Harnett Central
The 2008 Trojans hit the field for 7 on 7 scrimmage tonight. Joining the Trojans at H. Central were the home team, Purnell Swett and Scotland County. The Trojans lined up again Central in the first session, with QB B.G. Howell looking efficient, completing four and five in a row to Ian Hunter and Jeremy Conyers. Patrick Monahan and Terrell Sanders have interceptions for the Trojan defense in the controlled action. Swett and Scotland County were a little less controlled as their series was cut short when a skirmish broke out. In the second session, Trojans faced Scotland County and generally showed the ability to move the ball well.
