JV Trojans destroy the Knights

The dynamic duo of Demetrius Fairley and Juwan Moye plow their way for 253 yards and four scores and the Trojan defense does not allow a Knightdale first down until the second half in the 52-0 route at Trojan Stadium. Fairley runs for 152 yards and has three touchdowns. Moye adds 101 yards and two scores, all in the first half. Coach Stancil Hines is able to use 11 different ball carriers on the evening piling up 429 yard rushing yards as the Trojans (5-0) build a 34-0 halftime lead, while allowing just 24 yards of total offense by Knightdale.

The Trojans drive to the Knight 42 on their opening series before an interception gives Knightdale the ball at their own 17. The Knights get only 4 yards before punting back to Garner. Taking over at midfield, Fairley reels off 28 yards. After Moye dives for two, Fairley goes the distance from 20 yards out and Connor Torreulla, making his varsity debut, nails the PAT to make it 7-0. The Knights lose 6 yards on their next series, ending with Andre Gillispie and Terrence Fussell combining to sack Reese Bridges on third down. On the ensuing series, Moye rushes 20 yards for the Trojan score and a 14-0 lead with 1:58 to go in the first. The Knights get a big 57 yard return from Brannon Strayhorn to the Trojan 23 but manage but 3 yards and a 37 yard field goal attempt falls short. The Trojans take over on their own 20, and aided by a Knightdale running into the punter, continue the drive 80 yards for the score with Moye scoring on a 22-yard run and a 20-0 advantage. The Knights' fourth consecutive series without a first down gives the Trojans the ball back. Trojan QB Dwight Darity hits a streaking Tyler Thornton for a 55-yard bomb and another Torruella kick makes it 27-0.

Gavin Wilson picks off a Bridges pass on 2nd and 9 and returns it to the Knight 10. Fairley dives for a yard and then scores on a 9 yard pass from Darity for a 34-0 halftime lead for Garner. The Knights compiled (-4) yard rushing and just 7 yard passing in the half. Mercifully, the clock runs most of the half, which took just 47 minutes to play. The Knights big break opening the second half, a Devin Johnson 85 yard return for an apparent score is negated by a holding call and the Knights start the half at their own 20. While managing 25 yards and two of their 3 first downs of the evening, another drive ends with a punt to the Trojan 23. Fairley dashes the 77 yards on first down and the bench is ready to be emptied, up 40-0. Malik Knight sacks Bridges to stop the next Knightdale series and the punt has the Trojans starting on their own 19. Andre Gillispie sweeps right for 32 yards, followed by Fussell for 20. Josh Hawkins plows his way 29 yards to the goal line and Fussell dives the final yard to make it 46-0. Another failed Knight drive is ended by Bryan Watkins and David Thompson and the Trojans take the ball on their own 19 with 9:48 to go in the game. Matthew Pollock, Mustafa Woods and Kyle Wiggins march the Trojans 81 yards on a 11-play, six minute drive with Pollock diving in from a yard out for the final score of 52-0. In the final 3:3o, the last two Knightdale drives end with fumbles recovered by Tim Chism-Brown and Taylor Pebeahsy.
