A brutally cold night in Fayetteville brings an end to the Trojans season with a 39-3 loss at Jack Britt. The Trojans cannot survive the six turnovers and muster only 138 yards rushing while the Buccaneers pile up a massive 432 in the rematch of the 2006 play-off game. The Trojans manage only a BG Howell 27 yard field goal while the Bucs get 4 rushing TD's and three scores over 50 yards. The Trojan season ends at 8-5.

Britt's Eric Johnson runs untouched 82 yards with the opening kickoff and 13 seconds into the game, they lead 7-0. The Trojans gain only 3 yards on their first series but Britt is held without a first down on their first series as well. Garner fumbles ends a good drive at the Buc 46 after the Trojans had moved it 59 yards. Britt moves the ball to the Garner 19 before Aston Anglin-Stone picks off Everrett Proctor and returns it 62 yards to the Buccaneer 29. The stout Buc defense prevents the first down and the Trojans punt it back, pinning Britt on the 2 as the first quarter ends.

The Bucs go up 14-0 when Russell Collins hits Proctor from 52-yard out on the ninth play of the 98 yard drive, consuming 4:20 of the clock. Garner picks just 19 yards on the ensuing series but Britt fumbles the Howell punt and Stone is there again for his second takeaway of the night. But perhaps the critical series of the game, the Trojans cannot punch it in starting from the Britt 12 and settle for the field goal to cut the margin to 14-3. Britt answers with another plus four minute, 73 yard drive, with Johnson diving in from 3 yards out but Nussbaum's kick is missed to make it 20-7 at the half.

Garner fumbles to end their first drive of the second half but the defense shows a flash of last week's stirring performance against Millbrook forcing Britt out with just a 2 yard gain. From their own 12, the Trojans move it 41 yards, with Michael Brantley gaining 27 of his 84 yards of the night. But consecutive incompletions and a 5 yard Howell pass to Brantley on 3rd and ten results in another punt. Britt QB Collins dashes 46 yards on first down, followed by Proctor going 22 to the Trojan 15. Tremale France takes it in from 4 yards out for a 26-3 Buc lead. Another quick Trojans series without a first sets up Britt at midfield but Carl Redd recovers a Buc fumble to give the Trojans new life. Howell hits Ian Hunter for a 33 yard pass to Britt 12. But another Trojan fumble gives the Bucs the ball back with 1:26 to go in the third.

Britt moves the ball methodically 46 yards, chewing up the end of the third and first three minutes of the final period but have to punt it away and the pooch punt gives it back to Garner at their own 33. But the Britt defense forces the third consecutive 3-and-out from Garner in just 24 seconds and Howell's kick is partially blocked, travelling only 18 yards and the Bucs take over at their own 46. Six plays and a 1:34 later, Britt tacks on the dagger with Frances' 2nd score of the night and an insurmontable 32-3 lead with just 7:44 to go in the Trojan season.

Juwan Moye sees his first action of the play-offs and manages 4 yards and a Britt face mask moves the ball on their side of the 50. But Sebastian Hepburn picks off a Howell pass. Johnson dashes 62 yards on first down for the final score of 39-3.

The Trojans send their thanks and appreciation to the 28 seniors of the Class of 2009 for their effort and service to Garner Magnet High School. We wish you the very best!!
