DaMetrius Upchurch scores 25 points and adds 11 rebounds as the Trojans shake off a slow start to pound W.Johnston 82-65 at Garner. The win caps a 4-for-4 night by Garner who wins both JV and both varsity games, re-scheduled due to inclimate weather this week. The Trojans (10-8, 7-1 in the GNRC) set up a huge showdown next Tuesday at Clayton (also 7-1 in the conference).

The Wildcats start off blistering hot with Mark Parker hitting three consecutive 3-pointers and roll to a 18-9 first quarter lead. But a big 33-point second quarter by the Trojans erases the deficit. Garner hits 11 of 13 shots in the quarter to go up 42-34 at the half. Garner uses 6-0 and 7-0 runs during the period and do not trail for the remainder of the game. Emanuel McClain proves to be spark plug for the Trojan rally with 5 steals in the period and finishes the game with seven and eight assists. Cordero Hunter is red hot hitting six of his last seven to finish with 19 points and Albert Smith adds 16, Karl Agenor 12.

As we saw with their last game, the Trojans come out of the locker room at the half with just 17 seconds to spare and head straight to the floor. It works with another crisp shooting period, hitting 11 of 18 while forcing the Wildcats to turn the ball over six times (20 for the game while Garner has just 13). The lead swells to 20 with McClain's 7th steal of the game feeding Smith for the jumper and its 69-49 and Garner coasts home for the conference win:
