It was a battle of big plays at Garner High School's Trojan Stadium on Friday night, but in the end, Broughton had one more big play than the Trojans did and as a result, the Capitals earned their first win of the season with a 21-20 win over Garner.

After failing to score in their first game of the season, the Trojans wasted little putting up their first touchdown of the 2010 season when Garner (0-2) line backer, Gavin Wilson scooped up a fumble and returned it 33 yards and put the Trojans up 7-0 midway through the first quarter.

Broughton (1-1) answered right back on the ensuing drive. After Trojan kicker, Connor Torruella booted the kick into the end zone for a touch back, Broughton's quarterback connected with NC State signee, Juston Burris for and 81 yard touchdown strike and knot the game at seven all, which is how the first quarter ended.

Garner was the next team to score as the defense did it again. On a Broughton punt attempt, the ball sailed over the punters head, the Caps recovered at the ten yard line and it took just one play for Juwan Moye to run it in for Garner's first offensive touchdown of the season and give the Trojans a 14-7 lead.

Once again, Broughton answered back right before the half ended, as Garner punted away, it was Burris again, this time a 75 yard return for a touchdown and tied the game at 14 heading to the half.

In the third quarter, both teams played the field position game and as a result the contest entered the fourth quarter still deadlocked at 14.

Garner began their final drive of the third quarter and moved the ball into Broughton terrority in the early stages of the fourth with a 42 yard pass from Lemond Johnson to Moye and two plays later, the two connected again, this time for an 18 yard touchdown and Garner took a 20-14 lead, but the point after was no good and the Trojans had a six point lead.

Again, Broughton had one more big pass play left in them as with under four minutes to play, Cooper found Burris again, this time for a 73 yard play and after the Capitals nailed the point after, they had a 21-20 lead.

Garner had one final attempt, but they could not convert on fourth down on the Caps 42 yard line and the Trojans fall to 0-2 to begin the season.

The Trojans will hit the road next week for the first time as they travel to Middle Creek (2-0) for a 7:30 kick-off.
