There is an old saying that all good things must come to an end, and unfortunately for the Trojans, the football season came to an end on Friday night as they fell behind early and couldn't come back as Wake Forest-Rolesville defeated Garner 40-21 to advance to the Eastern Regional Finals.

Wake Forest-Rolesville (13-1) took the opening kick off and advanced the ball to midfield and on the first play from scrimmage, Marcus Jones rumbled down the side line for a 7-0 Cougar lead.

That was just the start for the Cougars as they added two more touchdown runs in the first half, another by Jones and James Harris added another as WFR took a 21-0 lead to the locker room.

Starting the third quarter, Garner (11-3) moved the ball down the field, but were forced to punt and after great field position again, WFR slashed the defense on the ground to put up another score and a 27-0 lead.

But, to the credit of the Trojans, they never quit and bounced right back as Lemon Johnson hit AJ Clanton on a screen pass which went for 66-yards and Clanton made several men miss and the first Garner touchdown of the night.

On the ensuing position, the Garner defense held WFR three and out and on the punt, Jake Ward had his kick blocked by Davonte Atkinson and DeAnthony Harris scooped up the loose ball and returned it for the score and all of a sudden it was a game again at 27-13.

After another three and out, Garner got the football back and as the third was winding down, the Trojans went for the half back pass again, but Clanton's pass for Lemond Johnson was under thrown and picked off by Darren Kirby.

That lead to another WFR touchdown and a 34-13 lead. Garner answered back a couple of possessions later as Johnson hit Bryan Watkins, who flipped the ball to Clanton who took it in for another touchdown, but it was too little too late as the Cougars added another late score to defeat the Trojans 40-21.

It was another great season for the Trojans which will has created several special moments and this season will live on in the minds of many Garner supporters for years to come.

A special thank you to all of the 18 seniors who gave it there all in the 2010 season. It was another great season!
