Garner and Wake Forest-Rolesville dueled for the second night in a row, this time the scene shifted to Larry Lindsay Gym where the Trojans put up their highest point total of the season and Donald Johnson set a career high with 34 points as Garner blasted the Cougars 91-77.

Garner (9-0, 3-0) got off to a slow start and did not hit their first basket until the six minute mark of the opening quarter, however the Cougars also had a cold start and it was only a three point lead when the Trojans scored their first basket. However, Garner shook off the sluggish start and took a 26-11 lead after the first quarter. In the opening frame, Johnson put up 10 points to lead all scorers in the first.

Wake Forest-Rolesville (1-9. 1-3) tried to climb back into the contest in the second quarter and they were lead by Cliff Jones who scored six of his eight first half points in the second quarter. But, the Trojans did a good job limiting the points by Dylan Woodham who lit the Trojans up the previous night.

The saving grace on offense in the second quarter for Garner was, Josh McClain who played an outstanding second quarter and scored seven points in the first half, five of them coming from the line in the second quarter. As a result, the Trojans took a 48-27 lead into the locker room.

Just like last night, the Cougars came out on fire in the third stanza and controlled the pace of play going on a 14-5 run to being the third and with two minutes to play in the quarter, the Garner lead was trimmed to eight points. That's when the Trojans finally got their groove back and took a 63-50 lead to the fourth.

In that final quarter, Johnson put the team on his back and carried Garner to the finish line as he scored 13 of his career high 34 in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, WFR continued to play hard and cut the Trojan lead to eight with just under one minute to play. However, the Trojans hit their free throws down the stretch to end the game with a 91-77 victory.

The 91 points that the Trojans scored are the most that an Eddie Gray team has scored since January 9, 2009 when the men of Troy put up 96 against the Golden Hawks of Holly Springs.

Garner will now take the holiday break off and return to action on January 4th when they host Smithfield-Selma.
