Lacrosse drops home opener

Millbrook rallied from a one goal halftime deficit to defeat Garner 9-4 on Friday night at Trojan Stadium.

Garner (1-1) got the first goal of the game with 2:41 left in the opening period as Josh Hawkins tallied for the Trojans. Millbrook fell behind 2-0 in the first period as Justin Clark tallied another goal, with 8:41 left in the half.

Millbrook put up a late goal to send the game to halftime with Garner leading 2-1.

As the second half began, the Wildcats mounted a rally scoring a pair of goals within a minute of each other. Despite being down on the scoreboard, the Trojans were dominating shots on goal with a 14-9 edge.

Garner continued to pound the Millbrook net and as a result, the Trojans tied the game with a Matt Pollock goal at 8:41 of the third period. However, Millbrook scored yet again to take a 4-3 lead into the final stanza.

With 6:44 remaining in the game, the Wildcats were up 6-3, but Garner responded with a Cory McCormick goal to make it 6-4.

Garner would get no closer as Millbrook pounded the Trojans net and came away with a 9-4 win.

The Trojans are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Enloe for a 6:00 face off.
