East Wake blasted three home runs on a windy afternoon at the Warriors home ballpark as they blew past Garner 11-4 on Friday afternoon.

Garner (5-5, 3-3) scored in their opening at bat as Brandon Tant doubled off the right field wall off the first pitch of the game and he later scored on an Alec Hulmes groundout and it was 1-0 Trojans going to the last of the first.

After Danny Shortt (L 2-2) retired the first hitters in the bottom of the first, he walked back to back hitters. East Wake (7-3, 5-1) tied the game on Sam Winegar's double and after a walk to Zach Bouren the bases were loaded. On a 1-0 pitch, Logan Jones blasted the pitch over the wall in left to cap a five-run first inning for the Warriors as they took a 5-1 lead into the second inning.

The Trojans went in order in the top of the second and in the bottom half, East Wake added two more runs off a Taylor Griswold home run for a 7-1 lead.

Matt Hawley led off the third inning and on a 3-1 pitch, the junior collected his first hit of the season, a home run off the scoreboard in right centerfield to make it a 7-2 deficit for the Trojans. Garner continued to threaten in the inning as they had runners at first and second with two outs. Brett Walters came to the plate and laced a hard shot toward third where Tyler Wilder speared and fired to third for the out and end the Trojan rally.

After East Wake added a pair of runs in the fourth, the Trojans got another run back in the fifth to make it 9-3 but the damage was done as the Warriors added single runs in the fifth and sixth to take a 11-3 lead into the top of the seventh.

Garner finally chased East Wake starter Christian Neal (W 3-1) from the game when they loaded the bases with one out. The Trojans added a single run to cap the scoring and end the game with a 11-4 loss.

The Trojans are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Fuquay-Varina to Trojan Park, first pitch is slated for 2:30. The JV game will precede the game beginning at 12:00.
