Soccer downs East Wake

In the third game of the week, Garner traveled to East Wake. With somewhat of a lackluster performance, Garner scored the first goal of the game when Michelle Roth headed a corner kick from Gabi Dugal into the back of the net. Dugal followed it up with a goal of her own from just outside the penalty box right before the half. The halftime score 2-0 in favor of the lady Trojans.

East Wake was the better team in the second half, but Garner prevailed. After capitalizing on a couple mistakes, East Wake had the game tied at two with about 20 minutes left.

After a shift from defense to offense, Lauren Pierce took the ball down the left sideline and made an excellent cross into the heart of the penalty box where recently pulled up freshmen, Taylor Cooke volleyed the ball with her left foot and scored the game winning goal for the Trojans.

As Garner defeated East Wake 3-2 in their final game before spring break.

The lady Trojans go into the break with an overall record of 8-4-2 and currently sit in second place in conference at 7-2-1. Garner has four games after break before playoffs begin.
