On the first play from scrimmage, Garner (2-0) gave the ball to Juwan Moye who rumbled 65-yards to pay dirt for a 7-0 Trojan advantage.

Athens Drive (1-1) moved backwards in their first drive and after a intentional grounding call, the Jaguars had to punt from deep in their own end, which proved to be costly as Tommy Evanoff stepped on the back line of the end zone for a safety and gave the Trojans an early 9-0 lead.

Another Athens Drive miscue gave the Trojans another scoring chance. Ricky Clark blocked another Jaguar punt and on the first play of the ensuing drive, Vince Jefferies found Moye in the end zone for a 16-0 advantage for Garner.

The Jaguars got on the board late in the second quarter after an eight play drive that culminated with Jason West finding Mike Estes from 12-yards out and a 16-7 Garner lead.

With under a minute to play in the half, Garner scored for the final time in the half using a mix of the run and pass, however, the biggest play of the drive was a Demetrius Fairley 46 yard run which set up a three yard touchdown run from Moye and the two teams went to the locker room with Garner up 22-7.
