Mother Nature downs JV Trojans

Garner and Clayton expected to play an entire JV football game on Thursday night at Trojan Stadium, however mother nature had other ideas as the game was suspended with 11:44 left in the first half.

The Comets struck first on the games opening possession as they marched 60 yards down the field on the Trojans defense with a steady diet of the run game. The big play on the drive was on fourth down and two from the Garner eight yard line, the Comets went for it with a Jace Brown run and picked up three for the first down. Two plays later, Nate Davis found his way into the end zone for an early 6-0 Clayton lead.

After the Trojans went three and out, the Comets got the ball right back and scored again as Brown rumbled 21 yards for the score and a 12-0 Clayton lead.

On the ensuing possession, Garner ran one play for no gain before the first quarter came to an end. Following the timeout, Brighton Hudson connected with Julius Barnes for a 58-yard pass play and a Trojan touchdown to make it 12-6.

Following the Garner kick-off a lighting strike hit near the stadium and forced the contest to be delayed at least 30 minutes. Following a series of lighting strikes, it was determined the game would not continue.

Currently, there is no make-up date set for the game, but it will be posted once the schools agree.
