Garner scored early and often as the top ranked team in the area blasted Clayton 42-13 on Friday night at Comet Stadium.

Garner (5-0, 1-0) scored their first 13 points in just three plays to set an early tone. After the Comets went three and out on their first drive, Demetrius Fairley took the handoff up the middle for 69 yards before he was run out at the two. One play later Fairley finished the drive for an early Trojan lead.

Another Clayton (1-4, 0-1) three and out led to a short field for the Trojans and on the first play of the drive, Vince Jefferies found Anthony Tucker for a 46-yard touchdown and a 13-0 lead.

On the next Trojan drive, Juwan Moye got in on the action as he scored from seven yards out to make it 21-0 after the first quarter.

That remained the score until late in the first half when Garner faced a fourth down with less than five second left in the half. The Trojans took to the air and their prayers were answered as Jefferies hit Moye for a 38-yard touchdown strike as the first half clock expired, and at the break it was 28-0 Trojans.

In the second half, it was more of the same as on the first play from scrimmage in the second half, there was a snap over the head of the Trojans Moye, but the ball was picked up by Fairley at the two yard line and he rumbled all the way down field for the score and a 35-0 lead.

Garner scored again late in the third quarter as Jefferies hit Brayden Sims who skied for the ball in the back of the end zone for his fourth touchdown grab of the season and a 42-0 lead.

Clayton put up two late scores including a punt return for a touchdown by Gary Richardson, however it wasn't enough as the Trojans remained perfect with a 42-13 victory. Additionally, the victory for the Trojans was their 23rd consecutive victory over the Comets.

Garner is back at home on Friday night for Homecoming 2011 when they play host to East Wake. Kick-off from Trojan Stadium is set for 7:30.
