After playing three games in five days last week, Garner came out a big sluggish on Monday night but survived a scrappy Sanderson squad to advance to the second round of the 4A playoffs with a 80-58 win at Trojan Coliseum.

Garner (24-2) led by six (17-11) after the first quarter as they exploited their size inside as Dominique Reed scored six of his 13 points in the opening quarter. The second quarter was very sloppy, however the Spartans couldn't get anything going on the offensive end thanks to outstanding defense from the Trojans and as a result, Garner led 34-19 at halftime.

The men of Troy came out of the locker room on fire to start the second half going on a 8-2 run over the first 1:43 of the third quarter to begin to pull away. Sanderson (11-16) was able to stick close with their outside shooting as they buried four three pointers in the third quarter. But, the Trojan big men continued to dominate as Garner took a 58-34 lead to the final quarter.

In the final stanza, Coach Gray emptied his bench allowing most everyone to get in the game as they pulled away to win, 80-58.
