Coming off their shutout win over Clayton on Tuesday night, Garner played another intense game on Wednesday afternoon as they fell a run short to Middle Creek 3-2 in eight innings at Trojan Park.

Middle Creek (5-2) came to bat against Trey Thompson (L, 0-2) in the eighth frame with the score knotted at two. Kennan Herring led off the inning and reached on a strikeout which got away from the Trojan catcher. One batter later, Jimmy Boyd doubled to the gap in right center to give the Mustangs the lead.

Garner (4-3) put the go ahead run on base in the last of the eighth as CJ Schmitt doubled with one out followed by an Aquail Sanders single to put runners at the corners but a strikeout and groundout followed as the Trojans failed to bring the tying or go-ahead runs home.

The Trojans were able to tie the game at two in the bottom of the sixth when Jake Faucette roped his second hit of the day over the first baseman's head to score Trever Lee.

Following the 3-2 loss, the Trojans will return to action on Friday night at 7:00 when they welcome the East Wake Warriors to Trojan Park.
